World Cuisines

Hello readers! Sometimes we get tired of eating the same grilled chicken and vegetables over and over again and we crave something different. I know that a lot of you guys love eating ethnic cuisines so I made this guide on what to eat at your favorite world restaurants. Please remember, this is a general guide, you should always check the restaurant to see how they prepare their food.
  1. Share a meal since restaurants tend to serve 2-5 times the recommended serving
  2. Opt for grilled or baked in place of fried
  3. Avoid foods that have a breading, sauce, or batter
  • Pasta with red or white clam sauce
  • Spaghetti with marinara or tomato
  • Stick with plain bread instead of garlic bread which is covered in butter or oil
  • Try vegetarian pizza and don't ask for extra cheese
  • Any thing labeled parmigiana or Parmesan
  • Anything with Alfredo in it
  • Fried calamari
  • Lasagna- the serving sizes here are through the roof and are generally packed with sodium and fat
  • Avoid cream or egg based sauces

  • Bean buritto (no cheese)
  • Fajitas with lots of vegetables
  • Soft shell tortiallas (which aren't fried) with fresh salsa
  • Order grilled meats such as steak, shrimp, fish, or chicken instead of greasy ground beef
  • Ask for black or pinto beans in place of refried beans which has lard or fat in it
  • Beef chimichangas
  • Deep fried Chile rellano
  • Anything battered or fried
  • Avoid cheese and sour cream or ask for them on the side. Instead of a cheesy nacho sauce, ask for shredded cheese
  • Hot and sour soup
  • Stir-fried vegetables
  • Shrimp with garlic sauce
  • Szechuan soup
  • Wonton soup
  • Request brown rice in place of white rice
  • Ask for steamed vegetables or stir-fried vegetables with less oil
  • Crispy chicken
  • Kung pao chicken
  • Moo shu pork
  • Sweet-and-sour pork
  • Egg rolls, fried rice, spring rolls, high sodium or sugary sauces
  • Steamed rice and vegetables
  • Tofu as a meat substitute
  • Broiled or steam chicken and fish
  • Eat sashimi and sushi only where the food is freshly prepared to avoided contracting a food borne illness
  • Fried rice dishes
  • Miso
  • Tempura
  • Soy sauces
